The day I met with Ary & Marco, I knew that we would be a perfect fit. Ary, with her beautiful smile & kind heart was going to be a beautiful bride and Marco’s friendly & warm personality made you like him immediately. After our initial meeting, I think Ary was disappointed because my commissioning rate was a bit out of their budget. But Marco, being the romantic guy he is, contacted me and wanted to surprise Ary by hiring me as their wedding photographer. So he had me come over one evening when Ary was at home sitting comfortably in her living room couch watching TV (in her pajamas!). Boy was she surprised and happy to see me. After that surprise, I could not wait for their wedding day to happen. Everything about this wedding was a dream come true. Wedding in Aruba with tropical climate and gorgeous environment, surrounded by close family and friends… what more can a couple ask for? Marco and Ary also LOVED the video work of Chris & Oliver Cinema so we went down to the Caribbean as a photo/video team. Immediately, we felt like we were part of the family. It must be the Puerto Rican culture but everyone was so nice and inviting. I even got to spend some time with them on a pre-wedding snorkeling trip.

I wanted to blog about this shortly after their wedding, but I had a funny feeling that this might be a wedding that could get published. So I held off for awhile and thankfully the wonderful staff at Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine decided to publish this in their “I Do, I Do” section. Well, just like Ary, I got a surprise of my own when they selected one of Ary & Marco’s images from their wedding as the COVER of that issue! What a surprise and honor this was! So I waited patiently until July rolled around before I could publish this. Well, needless to say, it is now August and I am finally blogging about this exciting news. It has been an extremely busy Summer with non-stop shooting so I am slowly catching up on work. I guess it’s better late than never right? So without further adieu, I present you the Cover and the featured article along with some other images from their beautiful Destination Wedding in West Palm Beach, Aruba.

I could not help but to share this timeless, elegant, classic wedding with everyone here on my blog. Patricia and Javier, currently living in New York, wanted to make their wedding day special by having their wedding back home in Chicago. Planning a wedding can be quite a challenge. To do a destination one requires a bit more effort. But they pulled it off effortlessly. Many guests from all over the world flew into Chicago that weekend in May to celebrate the union of Patty & Javier at a beautiful intimate venue in The Waldorf Astoria Chicago. Patty and Javier spent a great deal of time planning out every detail of the event. But on their wedding day, they just enjoyed the special moment they got to spend with each other and their guests. It was a picture perfect wedding. We managed to capture over 1000+ images that day. Although I would love to share every single one of them with you, I will do my best to capture the essence of their day with these 25+ images on this blog. I hope you enjoy perusing through these images. Congratulations Patty & Javier! It was truly an honor to capture these moments for you guys and to have spent the day with you.

I’m also honored to know that this wedding will be featured in the upcoming issue of the Chicago Social Bride wedding publication.

When I started this journey as a wedding photographer, I have to admit that I did not have any specific goals. Nor did I know that in 5+ years that I would be coined by Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine as one of Top 20 A-List wedding photographer. I am so thankful for what I do and grateful for all my clients who entrusted me to capture their special day. I am blessed to be able to travel the world through my job. I finished my 2011 wedding in December by photographing an amazing wedding down in Aruba. With my seminar coming up at ImagingUSA in January 2012, I thought it would be a good idea to create another promotional video to showcase my destination wedding photography (the topic for my talk was going to be about destination wedding photography).

Thankfully I had the pleasure of teaming up with Chris & Oliver Cinema for this wedding and take advantage of this opportunity to create another promotional video this time focusing on destination wedding photography. I am so thankful for their talent and their hard work to put together this amazing video in such short period of time. So without further adieu, here is the video that was showcased at ImagingUSA.

When Jane Met David: A Harvard Love Story

September 3rd, 2010

I can’t lie. As a wedding photographer – there are many perks that come with the job. Creating art. Working for myself. Meeting new friends. Being a part of such an important moment in two individual’s lives. The life of a wedding photographer is hard to beat. But I have to admit – I think my favorite part is listening to each couples version of When Harry met Sally. In this case – it was When Jane met David.

Jane and David were both attending Harvard getting their graduate degree. Jane was like a magnet to which David literally felt compelled to. He was a welcoming greeter at his local church the day Jane stopped in for a visit and he was immediately smitten. Jane needed a bit more convincing. When a group of friends went on a ski trip months later, David made his move. A very subtle move which included conversation and dessert. It wasn’t long after that Jane started to see David in a whole new light – and it had nothing at all to do with her sweet tooth!

Earlier this summer I made a special trip out to Saratoga, California to photograph David and Jane as they said I do at the picturesque Montalvo Arts Center. The Montalvo Arts Center, built in 1912, is set on 175 gorgeous acres of land with miles of hiking trails, an artist’s residency, three performing arts venues and a breathtaking garden.

The morning ceremony was held outdoors in the Montalvo Arts Center, and was followed by a luncheon at the Plumed Horse restaurant. I don’t know the specifics on the dress – but Jane looked absolutely stunning. And David – you dress up nice! I think tuxedo adds a nice touch of class. After the celebration began to wind down, the newlyweds and I made another trip out to the Cooper Garrod Vineyard for a little afternoon photo shoot and I swear to you, I don’t have one image that isn’t filled with their glowing, happy, smiles.

David & Jane – your story is one of my favorites and I can’t wait to hear about the many adventures you two will embark on together. Thank you for letting me be a part of your big day. Congratulations! Big props to my friend Nicole Kulinski for assisting me on at this wedding as well. We had a blast at this wedding!

Few weeks ago, I had the privilege of traveling across the pond to Italy to photograph a wedding for Justin & Meghan. I had to sit back and think really hard about how I wanted to blog this wedding – I spent a week with this couple and their friends & family – some of the nicest and down to earth people I’ve met (And they are from the midwest!) It was tough for me to decide because SO many memories were made from this trip and with over 2,000 final images – I was a bit overwhelmed with how I wanted to portray this wedding in such short blog post. I know picture are worth 1,000 words but I sometimes wish there was one photo that could describe thousand photos!

The wedding took place at the wonderful farm house (agriturismo) of Paolo and his family called “Il Greppo.” Talk about small world. I met Paolo last year while I was on my first PhotoVenture tour. My tour guide & best friend in Italy Max Brunelli met Paolo together. He told us about his farm house but little did we realize 8 months later we would be there photographing this couple’s wedding. The world truly is a small place. Il Greppo is situated just outside of Montepulciano, in the heart of Tuscany where some of the best/finest wines are produced. Two of my favorite wines Brunello Di Montalcino and Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano are from this region.

Meghan is gorgeous and Justin isn’t too shabby either. He has a contagious laugh that makes everyone around him laugh. They are truly unique people and they wanted their wedding to reflect just that. For example, they decided to take their honeymoon before the wedding. And in doing so, Meghan & Justin were able to come out and planned this wedding just the way they dreamt it. With the help of Cristiana, the wedding coordinator in Italy, they were able to do just that. Cristiana, along with Max, helped them plan out the detail of the wedding with Meghan and everything that went to this wedding made it so memorable. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience and I feel like I’ve gained some good friends through this wedding. I can go on talking about it, but I will let the photos do the talking from here.

I managed to make a set of collages (24 in total), to describe the week’s worth of experience. I certain hope you guys enjoy them and I, as well as the couple, would love to hear your comments:

These are some photos from that week. Most of them are from events that took place days before or after the wedding:

Thank you Meghan & Justin – and your family and friends for the incredible week! I will be photographing another wedding in Italy later this year. I am looking forward to working with Max on this wedding again. Can’t wait! 🙂 And I must admit, Max, Cristiana and I make quite a wedding team! 🙂
