I’m taking a break to quickly blog. It has been about a week since my book project went into full swing so I’m finding less and less time to try to do other things besides shooting weddings/traveling and writing. As I am going through my images for my book and looking at my weddings from the past, I came across Sarah & Cory Hooley’s wedding that I photographed 3 years ago. I started my career full-time in 2006 so this was one of my earlier weddings but to this date it rates as probably my top 5 favorite weddings of all time. They were a beautiful couple, there was love evident everywhere amongst there family and friends. I truly felt like I was surrounded by authentic and genuine people that cared for one another. Although I only spent 2 days with them, they left an indelible mark that still resonates with me today.
Let me give you a brief background about them. Cory’s mother Janet has been battling cancer for some time and many, including the doctors thought she was not going survive until the wedding. But by God’s grace she lived to be there by his side. Few months past she finally went home to be with the Lord. I will never forget the kind email she wrote to me about the good job I did for their family. I wish I can find it somewhere but unfortunately it is lost somewhere in cyberspace. The privilege I had to capture moments for family like this made me fall in love with photography.
Cory & Sarah love each other. You don’t need any words to convince me that they are going to last for lifetime. The way they looked and held each remind me that they will be there for each other. I still keep in touch w/ them time to time as they started their lives in Indiana. This past week I received in email from Sarah with some good & bad news. Good news is that Sarah is expecting their first born! Unfortunately this is happening during time when Cory found out he was diagnosed with stage 2B Hodgkins Lymphoma in his chest so it makes him at high risk. This has been a whirlwind to deal with for them since Sarah is in her 2nd trimester of pregnancy.
My heart breaks and goes out for them. I am also making this post asking for your prayers out there. He has a website that you can keep up to date on his status. I am sure most of you out there do not know him but prayers sent his way definitely will not hurt. Visit the CaringBridge Website dedicated for Cory.
Without further due, here are some images from Cory & Sarah’s wedding. Some of the images are, to this date, my favorites. They & I would love your feedback/comment!
