If you believe in fate, then Sandy & Ed were meant to be. So many events happened in their lives pointed towards them being together but it was not until few years later that Ed finally realized she could be the one for him. Everything was crystal clear from there on. They had their first date at Molly’s cupcakes and many more followed afterwards. Now they are planning to tie their knot in October and I am thrilled to be working with this fun couple for their wedding day. For this shoot we got to spend a hot but fun afternoon in Chicago going around random places. Here’s just a few to share with you. Sandy got so excited she went ahead and made an album in her facebook gallery (Not sure if she made them public or not – so you might have to friend her on facebook!

Ed is an opthamologist so we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to do a fun shoot in front of the eyeball statue.

We slowed down by finishing our shoot inside Molly’s Cupcakes where they had their first date. We got to taste it afterwards and wow. If someone bought me a cupcake and asked me out, I’d say yes too!

Looking at the size of her ring, I think I can safely say that Ed is madly in love with Sandy. :)

Congratulations guys. Your wedding day is going to be so much fun!

I met Jessica her in college when she was playing tennis for the University of Illinois and I was working there at the tennis facility as a staff. Aaron is also an athlete – he was on the track team also at the University of Illinois. He and I both share love for basketball and it was on the hardwood courts that we became friends. Towards the end of their college years, Jessica and Aaron started dating and I lost touch with them after they both moved onto the career stage in their lives. Few of years later, I get a facebook message from Jessica telling me that they are engaged and wanted me to photograph their wedding. I could not be any happier – it was good to reconnect with them through this opportunity and they are great people (not to mention great looking)! They are getting married next June but wanted to do their engagement session right away. This session is part of 2 series – since we have so much time before their wedding, we decided to divide our session into two so that we can utilize different locations and season.

I had an opportunity to do a quick impromptu video interview with them afterwards talking about how the session went – so I will share that with you as well. We spent an afternoon in warm chicago weather by the North Avenue Beach and got some really great images. I love the way Aaron looks at Jessica. No words are needed to prove to me that he is absolutely in love with her. Her smiles assures me that she is crazy about him as well. I really enjoy photographing love between two people. Thank you for allowing me to capture that in you guys:

Here is the video that I talked about earlier:

Joanne & Dan met at a church event while both attending the University of Illinois. Dan was a sophomore and Joanne was a freshmen. They began to spend more and more time together and eventually grew to be best friends. Everyone around them knew that they were going to get married – it was just matter of time. Eight years later, he is now a successful business man and she is a school teacher. Although many things have changed in their lives, their love for each other remained the same and on June 20, they decided to honor their commitment before God in front of their family and friends at the beautiful Northminster Presbyterian Church in Evanston, IL. It was followed by a dinner reception cruise inside the Odyssey Cruise in Chicago at Navy Pier.

I was thankful to photograph their wedding as I gotten to know Dan & Joanne over the years and they have become good friends of mine. Dan is a huge sports fan and is passionate about sports. I adore the way he looks at Joanne because you can tell that he is absolutely in love with her more than any sports team or players out there and she is just as much in love with him. Although because of our busy schedule I do not get to see them as much, it was great to spend time with them. Their thoughtfulness, sincerity and caring hearts for God and for people impresses me so much and it was evident by their friends surrounding them. It was also a small reunion for all the people that were friends with them in college as their celebrated together under a beautiful midsummer night looking over the Chicago skyline which is one of the best in the world.

I was thankful to see several of my couples whose weddings I photographed in the past there attending as guests. It is always good to catch up with them and serves as a good reminder of why I love what I do. Big thanks also goes out to my new friends in Brandon & Jessica Springer from Windsor, Canada! They came all the way from there to spend the day with me and helped by capturing some awesome images. We had an awesome time together aye? (canadian slang).

By the way, here are some images from their engagement session that we did couple months back in Chicago.

Without further due, here are some sample images from their wedding. For more, visiting my facebook gallery:

Dan & Joanne – thank you guys so much for allowing me to photograph your wedding. But more importantly our friendship that we have in Christ. I look forward to seeing you guys grow now as a couple! Congratulations.

When I first met Jenny & Alan in 2009 at Barnes & Noble in Oak Brook for our interview, I instantly was impressed by Jenny & Alan. I usually get a good read on people and Alan exemplifies what an true gentlemen and a nice guy should be like. Jenny was full of grace, class filled with elegance. I secretly kept my fingers crossed hoping that they would choose me as their photographer. When they finally made their decision, I was elated and could not wait for their wedding which was not going to be until over a year later! Well the day finally came this past June. The event took place inside America’s tallest building in Willis Tower at the Metropolitan Club. I can confidently say that their love was taken to another height that day! Filled with tearful, thoughtful and unforgettable moments, this was truly a perfect day for everyone that came to celebrate Jenny & Alan’s union as one. I have a feeling that these guys are going to be in love for long long time. And I also have a feeling I’ll be friends with them in the future.

Thanks to Patricia Hildebrand for assisting me as my associate shooter for this event. It is always fun working with another talented photographer! Melissa Phillips of Simply Perfect by Melissa did a fabulous job organizing this day. It was a pleasure working with you. The room was adorned with flowers designed by Vale of Enna. Here are some images that highlighted their day:

Chicago Engagement Session: Justyna & Craig

June 24th, 2010

This is one of the more memorable engagement sessions I have shot so far. This is one of the more memorable engagement sessions I have shot so far. We were expecting a sunny day only to get rained on twice, getting kicked out of two places by security guards (surprise, surprise) and still managed to go for a bumpy boat on Lake Michigan. But despite all this, we ended up with a great eSession. What’s there to not love about it? A great looking couple in Justyna & Craig, shooting them in their “car” which turned out to be a Ferrari, getting a tour of Craig’s huge photography collection and finishing on Lake Michigan going on a boat ride? And to top it off, my good friends, who just started their Chris & Oliver Cinema production came along and filmed the session.

I met Justyna & Craig at a bridal show hosted by the Metropolitan Club earlier this year. After our initial meeting, I’ll admit that I secretly kept my fingers crossed hoping that they would commission me as their photographer. Justyna is a beautiful girl and Craig and I have a same brand watch – which told me that we’ll get along just fine. On top of that, they are the nicest people you’ll meet and Craig has an affinity for photography so it was such an honor to be chosen for their wedding day.

Here are some photos from our shoot that day. To see the video from the shoot, scroll down to the bottom:
