Aruba Wedding Featured on Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine

August 2, 2010

My first caribbean wedding in the Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas was featured in the Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine about two years ago. Since then, I have been fortunate to travel around various exotic locations to photographs wonderful weddings. I am excited to announce that my work will be featured on this fabulous publication again – on back to back issues!

First issue, which will hit the newsstand in couple of weeks will feature an article about finding your location in the caribbean for your wedding. The staff at DWH chose my image from Aruba wedding of Peggy & Nate (shot earlier this year) as their opening spread to this resourceful 10-page article about finding the right location for your destination wedding in the caribbean:

Here is the image that they chose for their opening spread:

This will be in the Sept/Oct issue and will be out in just couple of weeks so be sure to check it out when you can. Second issue (Nov/Dec) will feature their full wedding in their “I Do, I Do” section. I cannot wait to see this and this will be available later on this year. I will be sure to post it when it becomes available. I just want to take this time to thank Diane Rice (Follow her on twitter: @DWH_Diane), the Photo Editor for Destination Weddings & Honeymoons magazine and the other wonderful staff there for selecting my work to be a featured in their magazine. Also I would like to thank my clients Peggy & Nate Lao for giving me the opportunity to do what I love!

Please take time to visit my previous post about this wedding. I could be bias but I think it’s worth the look again. ;-)

Evanston Chicago Navy Pier Wedding of Joanne & Dan

July 22, 2010

Joanne & Dan met at a church event while both attending the University of Illinois. Dan was a sophomore and Joanne was a freshmen. They began to spend more and more time together and eventually grew to be best friends. Everyone around them knew that they were going to get married – it was just matter of time. Eight years later, he is now a successful business man and she is a school teacher. Although many things have changed in their lives, their love for each other remained the same and on June 20, they decided to honor their commitment before God in front of their family and friends at the beautiful Northminster Presbyterian Church in Evanston, IL. It was followed by a dinner reception cruise inside the Odyssey Cruise in Chicago at Navy Pier.

I was thankful to photograph their wedding as I gotten to know Dan & Joanne over the years and they have become good friends of mine. Dan is a huge sports fan and is passionate about sports. I adore the way he looks at Joanne because you can tell that he is absolutely in love with her more than any sports team or players out there and she is just as much in love with him. Although because of our busy schedule I do not get to see them as much, it was great to spend time with them. Their thoughtfulness, sincerity and caring hearts for God and for people impresses me so much and it was evident by their friends surrounding them. It was also a small reunion for all the people that were friends with them in college as their celebrated together under a beautiful midsummer night looking over the Chicago skyline which is one of the best in the world.

I was thankful to see several of my couples whose weddings I photographed in the past there attending as guests. It is always good to catch up with them and serves as a good reminder of why I love what I do. Big thanks also goes out to my new friends in Brandon & Jessica Springer from Windsor, Canada! They came all the way from there to spend the day with me and helped by capturing some awesome images. We had an awesome time together aye? (canadian slang).

By the way, here are some images from their engagement session that we did couple months back in Chicago.

Without further due, here are some sample images from their wedding. For more, visiting my facebook gallery:

Dan & Joanne – thank you guys so much for allowing me to photograph your wedding. But more importantly our friendship that we have in Christ. I look forward to seeing you guys grow now as a couple! Congratulations.

Beverly Hills Wedding with Emi & Motoki

July 19, 2010

When Emi made a list of “must-haves” in her future husband, she put down a Christian Japanese-speaking man as one of the requirement. Little did she know God has someone specific in mind that not only met that “hard to find” requirement but someone that went above and beyond in Motoki. Watching interact together, you can’t help but to smile. They are so good & nice to each other and at the same time know how to be goofy and fun. They laugh, make faces, hug and both have a big heart for people and share a common faith & love in Jesus Christ. Not to mention, Motoki has a job in Hollywood that every computer geek will drool over!

They celebrated their wedding at the Wilshire United Methodist Church in Los Angeles, CA. We then spent some time walking through Rodeo drive doing a photoshoot. The reception was held at Lawry’s Prime Rib restaurant in Beverly Hills.

Big thanks to Mike Poeschl for second shooting this with me. Without his help I don’t think I could have made it to the airport on time to go back to Chicago for another wedding the next day! Here are some photos from the wedding. You can find more by visiting my facebook page:

Thank you Emi & Motoki for the awesome day! You guys are an amazing couple and I am blessed to be part of your lives. Also, your bilingual wedding service was so blessing!

The Willis Tower Metropolitan Club Wedding – Jenny & Alan

July 16, 2010

When I first met Jenny & Alan in 2009 at Barnes & Noble in Oak Brook for our interview, I instantly was impressed by Jenny & Alan. I usually get a good read on people and Alan exemplifies what an true gentlemen and a nice guy should be like. Jenny was full of grace, class filled with elegance. I secretly kept my fingers crossed hoping that they would choose me as their photographer. When they finally made their decision, I was elated and could not wait for their wedding which was not going to be until over a year later! Well the day finally came this past June. The event took place inside America’s tallest building in Willis Tower at the Metropolitan Club. I can confidently say that their love was taken to another height that day! Filled with tearful, thoughtful and unforgettable moments, this was truly a perfect day for everyone that came to celebrate Jenny & Alan’s union as one. I have a feeling that these guys are going to be in love for long long time. And I also have a feeling I’ll be friends with them in the future.

Thanks to Patricia Hildebrand for assisting me as my associate shooter for this event. It is always fun working with another talented photographer! Melissa Phillips of Simply Perfect by Melissa did a fabulous job organizing this day. It was a pleasure working with you. The room was adorned with flowers designed by Vale of Enna. Here are some images that highlighted their day:

Jenny & Alan, thank you so much for allowing me to spend this fabulous day with you guys. I was so blessed by your generosity and kindness. And the people around you are lucky to have you guys as their friends.

Tuscany Wedding of Meghan & Justin – Montepulciano, Italy

June 15, 2010

Few weeks ago, I had the privilege of traveling across the pond to Italy to photograph a wedding for Justin & Meghan. I had to sit back and think really hard about how I wanted to blog this wedding – I spent a week with this couple and their friends & family – some of the nicest and down to earth people I’ve met (And they are from the midwest!) It was tough for me to decide because SO many memories were made from this trip and with over 2,000 final images – I was a bit overwhelmed with how I wanted to portray this wedding in such short blog post. I know picture are worth 1,000 words but I sometimes wish there was one photo that could describe thousand photos!

The wedding took place at the wonderful farm house (agriturismo) of Paolo and his family called “Il Greppo.” Talk about small world. I met Paolo last year while I was on my first PhotoVenture tour. My tour guide & best friend in Italy Max Brunelli met Paolo together. He told us about his farm house but little did we realize 8 months later we would be there photographing this couple’s wedding. The world truly is a small place. Il Greppo is situated just outside of Montepulciano, in the heart of Tuscany where some of the best/finest wines are produced. Two of my favorite wines Brunello Di Montalcino and Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano are from this region.

Meghan is gorgeous and Justin isn’t too shabby either. He has a contagious laugh that makes everyone around him laugh. They are truly unique people and they wanted their wedding to reflect just that. For example, they decided to take their honeymoon before the wedding. And in doing so, Meghan & Justin were able to come out and planned this wedding just the way they dreamt it. With the help of Cristiana, the wedding coordinator in Italy, they were able to do just that. Cristiana, along with Max, helped them plan out the detail of the wedding with Meghan and everything that went to this wedding made it so memorable. All in all, it was an unforgettable experience and I feel like I’ve gained some good friends through this wedding. I can go on talking about it, but I will let the photos do the talking from here.

I managed to make a set of collages (24 in total), to describe the week’s worth of experience. I certain hope you guys enjoy them and I, as well as the couple, would love to hear your comments:

These are some photos from that week. Most of them are from events that took place days before or after the wedding:

Thank you Meghan & Justin – and your family and friends for the incredible week! I will be photographing another wedding in Italy later this year. I am looking forward to working with Max on this wedding again. Can’t wait! :) And I must admit, Max, Cristiana and I make quite a wedding team! :)
