We just finished our first day here at Joe Buissink’s workshop in Eagle Creek, Oregon. It was a day filled with lectures, sharing and shooting. I equate Joe to Brett Favre of photography. He’s definitely a veteran and still going strong. I’m so drawn to his passion and approach to photography. When most people are thinking of retirement at his moment in life, he still pushes to create new boundaries in photography. I love his child-like heart and desire to improve himself more and more.

Before I got into photography, I was a web designer. One of my former/favorite clients, Eternal Perspective Ministries is located about 10 mins from where the workshop was taking place (Sandy, OR) so Andres and I stopped by to meet the staff. I worked for them for almost 4 years and have yet to meet them face to face until that day. Unfortunately my favorite author Randy Alcorn was not there but it was still good to spend some time with them. Here’s me with Sharon, Kathy & Stephanie. Randy was not there that day. :-( Andres and I were gifted with $$$ worth of free books!

Looking over the Jonsrud Point in Sandy, OR. I can’t imagine how beautiful this view will be in few weeks when the leaves change color.

There’s so much green everywhere where our workshop is taking place. It’s at a Christian conference center. It feels like I’m back at a junior high church retreat all over again. :) It’s nice and quiet here. Solitude is great. Here are some shots around the camp:

Joe dives right in and shares with us his philosophy to photography. The man never slows down!

Then we take the show on the road.

Time to shoot some models! Joe challenged us to use only ONE lens to shoot our models.

Here’s one of three that we got to work with. Say hello to Danielle!

One of our attendee Scott’s camera just broke during the shoot. How do you mess up your shutter curtain like that? I guess it’s time for him to get a new cano…I mean camera. :)

The rest of the images are some of my favorites from the shoot. We have to present 5 of our best. After shooting over 700 shots it was hard to narrow them down. I picked the ones that best captured them – in their genuine moments. I have to take one out. Help please! :)

Looking forward to day two!

Speaking of workshops – my buddy Mike Colón just announced his 4 day workshop in December. It will be a special one in Maui since he is celebrating his 10th workshop! If you are wanting to learn from the best and also want to pamper yourself after a long hard-working year, this is one not to miss! Check it out here or click on the image:

I can’t wait to show you some images but here’s a little teaser.

By the way, I got to make new friends and finally meet some of my online/facebook friends at this wedding. Thanks for coming up to say hello!

Whew, it has been a busy year. I can’t believe it is already October and Fall crept up on us. What happened to the Summer?! I’ve been busy shooting like crazy in October and this week wasn’t any different. Wednesday I met up with Christian & Esther and did a fun eSession shoot with them in Chicago. They are getting married in two weeks and we wanted to squeeze in a session before the big day:

Then on Thursday I hopped on a plane to JFK and met up with my couple Bryan & Christine at Central Park, NYC (who’s wedding I’m shooting this weekend). They are such a cute/young couple and it’s safe to say that they are high school sweethearts. :) I’m so happy to be with them because I know they went out of their way to bring me out here for the weekend. For that I’m really thankful and look forward to meeting everyone this weekend at their wedding. Here’s a few images we grabbed at the park:

This looks cheesy but it means alot to them since they came to this pizza restaurant often during their courting days to share a slice of pizza together. :)

These are just nuggets of what’s to come. I plan on catching up with everything (I’m behind few months on blogging!) once my schedule slows down. Until then hope you guys enjoy these images. :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

We just got back from our second wedding this weekend. Tomas Flint & Vanessa Scavone teamed up with me for this one. I was delighted when Koo asked me to shoot this wedding. Koo & Jinny were such a fun bunch – too fun that I couldn’t get them to do one normal pose! :) I had so much fun laughing with them during the photoshoot!

On our way to the Colonial Terrace, Tomas, Vanessa & I took a little detour and stopped at a scenic area by the mountain to have some fun. Here’s us getting our selves warmed up to demonstrate our ninja photography skills:

There was a hot dog vendor there (in the middle of nowhere) so we had to get one :) Yum!

Koo & Jinny! Their wedding was so “you-nique”. It was a beautiful wedding and just the way they would have wanted it.

Here’s us at the end of the night. I think all of us were exhausted from the day! Somebody save Koo. He’s about to pass out!

So the adventure finally ends tonight. I’ll be back next week for another fun wedding. I can’t believe October is passing by so fast!

I’m in NY this weekend shooting two weddings of my close friends. Congratulations to John & Mijin! They had a fantastic wedding today. We had a blast shooting at the Gantry Park. This is where the Pepsi Cola sign is at. Ever since I saw Brittney Spear’s Pepsi commercial, I always wanted to do a photoshoot there. Unfortunately when we got there, that part of the park was fenced off. But no barbed wires were going to stop me from getting the shots I wanted. I somehow convinced the bride and groom to climb over a metal railing fence through the steel cage to get this shot.

But because of their bravery, we were able to get this shot. There were 3 other weddings there. I bet none of them got this! ;-)

Congratulations guys. So happy for this couple.

It was so good seeing lot of my old friends too! It was like a mini-reunion. I’ll blog about this more later. Okay I am going to bed now. Can’t wait to shoot tomorrow’s wedding as well. Koo & Jinny, here we come – Good times!
