What happens when the best of the east meets the best of the west? You get a fun filled, information-packed workshop! One of my purpose for thetrip out to NY was to help out at a workshop that was hosted by Jason Groupp & Gene Higa.

We spent the entire day at Jason’s urban studio in the heart of NY. It was exciting to see two different styles and personalities come together. Another NY-based photographer Brian Dorsey also joined as a special guest speaker and gave a quick talk about marketing. The attendees were great and eager to learn. All in all we had a blast in learning from one another. The photoshoot with the models were amazing. Big thanks goes out to Lindsey Thorne, Jason’s studio assistant who ran around like a mad woman in taking care of the logistics. She even gave a brief talk on how she designs her albums for Jason. Michelle Kersten from GraphiStudio stopped by to talk about some exciting things happening at Graphi.

Here’s our beautiful models getting ready to rock NY in style!!!

Lens Rental generously donated some lenses to try out at this workshop. This image of our model Amanda was shot using Canon’s new 200mm F/2.0L. It is straight out of my Mark III w/ virtually no post process. What a great lens!

Here’s us taking a break from our first photoshoot session:

Time Square = bright lights, big city…can’t go wrong w/ any photoshoot here…

Our models Nick & Aliya striking a pose…

And that’s all folks! It was a short but sweet day. We can all say that we HEART NY!
