Ok, I literally have 15 mins before I board on my plane to San Fran. Just wanted to update you on my fun weekend here in Chicago. Friday I had a chance to do an eSession Angeles and Jamie. We had so much fun getting to know each other.

Then Saturday I spent having fun with these two rascals. Scott and Jane are so much fun. It was good to see some old friends at his wedding.

You might think this is a weird photo but this really captures their personality and goofiness:

Then I got to hang out w/ Terry and Rachel in the city (again) doing their eSession. It was blast getting to know them. Terry is such a cool guy and Rachel is my #1 blog fan. I love her already. :) Thanks to Christine Bentley for tagging along with this shoot!

I’ll update more later. But I have a busy packed week coming up in San Fran! See you guys later!!!

Hey guys. So this past few days have been incredible. Despite the nasty bug bites and the scorching sunburn, I managed to walk away with ton of good memories. Big thanks to my friend Tomas Flint & his sidekick Kelli (whom many of you thought were the bride & groom) for bringing me along in this adventure. Another blog entry will come dedicated to this. But I wanted to quickly share some images with you guys before we head out for dinner on our final night out. Local photographer Gabriel González is on his way to have dinner with us.

Congratulations to Traci & Brendan. Here’s their first kiss…

The ridiculous view that overlooked the ocean…

They tied their knot surrounded by 60 of their closest family & friends…

They had their reception dinner under the full moon light…

I think the bouquet pose might become my signature shot. What do you think?

Here’s Kelli, Tomas & I relaxing after the wedding. Good times! Can’t wait to redo this again in December!

We also go to hang out with Anton Lorimer and his family (Abi & Trever). Anton was here with us taping Tomas’s promo video. You have to check out his work. It’s sick.

Tomorrow I head back home then immediate go down to Washington, IL to attend the ONE Workshop hosted by Jeff & Julia Woods I cannot wait to hang out with Bob & Dawn Davis, Dane & Tami Sanders, Ron Dawson, Zach Arias, Jen & Stephen Bebb plus their attendees.

You might be wondering, “wait, Kenny, isn’t this only for married couples?” And my answer is, “YES”. But where there’s a will, there’s a way. I could not pass up being able to hang out w/ some of the best in this industry. So I will be helping out the Woods by documenting this for them. Hopefully I will be able to soak in the wisdom from the married couples and learn some insightful wisdom about working together as a married couple!

I’ll keep you guys posted. I have to go to dinner soon. Until next time!

Hey gang! I had a blast at this year’s partner con in LA.

I think from now on, photos from events like this, I will post them on my facebook gallery. So click on the image to go to my gallery and view the photos there.

Right after the conference, I hopped on a planed and headed down to Puerto Rico for a wedding with Tomas Flint. The view from the hotel room is not too shabby:

I’m going to be spending lot of time with these two: (EDIT Sorry this is not the that’s getting married. That’s my friend/photographers Tomas & Kelli that will be shooting together. Sorry bout the confusion!)

I will post more from this trip later on. Have a great weekend everyone!

Yesterday I shot a super fun wedding at the Embassy Suites in Chicago. We took some cool shot with bride & the groom and here’s couple of images from that day. I will blog about this wedding later on.

But what I mainly wanted to blog about was the effectiveness of showing a slideshow off your computer at the reception. My friend Becker posted a few days ago about a slideshow that he did where he video recorded (ingenious for thinking of this) people watching his images. You can see by the result how successful that was. See the post.

I wanted to reinforce how effective this is. Last night at the reception, I downloaded 3000 images, sorted them and picked out my favorite 200, touched some of them up and some I left straight out of the camera and had a slideshow ready in about 35 mins (I’m not as fast as DJ or Becker :-) . And here’s the result:

This happens at quite a few weddings but last night was little different. The groomsmen were pulling people from their table while they were eating to view the show. At one point, some of the guests grabbed their chairs, plopped themselves in front of my computer, and watched them like it was a movie. I do have to warn you to use caution when you show this because it causes so much distraction that it left lot of the guests from dancing on the dance floor. I was glad that DJ didn’t mind it. But all in all it was very effective and I had people “talking” (the best form of advertising) about my images that day. I even had a couple come up to me wishing that they hired me instead of the one that they already booked.

Any ways, try it out for yourself and see how it works for you guys. I am off to shoot another wedding today. Tonight I pack and leave for LA to meet w/ some fabulous photographers in LA for Pictage Partner Con. Then I’m off to Puerto Rico to shoot a wedding with Tomas Flint. WOo hoo!! I think we are officially the Destination Wedding Duo. Good times!

UPDATE: PROPHOTOHUB
Hey check out what my friend Ray Santana is doing. He created a website called ProPhotoHub. It’s an online community where you can go to find out the latest news in the wedding photo industry. Check it out!

END UPDATE

Hey guys. I was going to post this entry about 5 hours ago but the Caribou coffee that I was at has xanga blocked so I couldn’t do this until now. This is sort of a potpourri post again. Pretty soon, I will start posting some photos from my weddings and some eSession shoots again. It’s been a while since I posted one and I got some really neat ones that I can’t wait to show you guys.

First of all, I just got done touring with DJ, Jasmine Star & Becker. They still have about 3 more cities to go and I wont’ be there but I wanted to promote some of the things that he posted on his blog. If you didn’t get a chance to attend or DJ didn’t even come close to your city, don’t fret because he will come right to your HOUSE via DVD. :-) If you missed the seminar, you can order a copy of the DVD by clicking on the image below:

SShhhh…if you use the code “PREORDER”, you can receive a $20 discount off the DVD! :-)

Also everyone’s been RAVING about his Freedom shirts. I have one and it is NICE. I wearing to sleep, eat, work, network and just to show off. :-) Now they are on sale for only $20! You can order it by clicking on the image below:

HURRY before they run out! :-)

Getting To Know You
Now onto next agenda. I want to try something different. Most of us spend our time talking about ourselves in our blog (and rightfully so). But I want to try something different. I want to be a “Love Cat”. I read in the book “Love Is The Killer App” by DJ, I mean Tim Sanders :) that a “Love Cat is one who offers his or her wisdom freely, gives his or her address book to anyone who needs help and who is always human.” One sign of a true Love Cat is someone who is always connecting people together. I think with the network of friends I have, I always forget that I know them but you may not necessarily know them. So I want to, every once in awhile, write a short feature on a photographer friend and introduce them to you on my blog. I won’t go into details about who they are but just a brief introduction. Your job is to reach out and connect with them. I think this is one way that I can help contribute to this community. I would love to see you guys network more this way also. Let me know what you guys think about this. So I’m going to help you connect, then get out of my way so you guys can get to know each other.

What do you guys think? I would love your feedback on this. Without further due (drum roll):

GETTING TO KNOW YOU: SARAH SKOW
Sarah’s Blog | Facebook site

I met Sarah back in March at Vegas Love Story workshop with Bob Davis. She has such a wonderful heart and cares for people. She is like an open book. If you are curious about something, just ask her and she’ll tell you, but don’t expect her to initiate! :-) She’s a gorgeous gal. She reminds me of what Audrey Hepburn would’ve looked like in her teenage years. She was in town couple weeks ago to attend DJ’s seminar so I asked her to do some shoot with me to test out my new Westcott Spiderlite TD5. (That lighting system is pretty cool – it even makes ME look like Canon’s Explorer of Light!) Here’s some shots I got of her:

She is an awesome, up and coming photographer from Kalona, Iowa. (Where? Yeah I know, I said the same thing).

Any ways, she loves meeting new people so go ahead and leave her some nice comments on her blog or add her as a friend on facebook.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU: TROY WOODS
Troy’s Blog | Facebook site

Troy is one cool dude. Back in May, when I visited DC, he found out I was in town so he drove, on his MOTORCYCLE, for an hour to come and hang out w/ me! How cool is that? Troy if you were a girl, I would date you. He is a photographer in the DC area – specifically from Upper Marboro, MD. I’ve had a chance to be in touch w/ him since then and got to chill with him for a bit in DC last week. He’s a really cool guy, has a good outlook in photography and is always up for meeting people. He has a beautiful wife (I don’t know how he got her — JK!!) Kelli that does wedding comestics. She is on Grace Ormonde’s platinum list! Give Troy a holla!

I encourage you guys to reach out with these folks. They are great people and I’m blessed to call them friends.

Find Regis!!!
Finally, I want to give a quick shout out to Megan Beth that I met last week in DC. She is a young photographer from DC. I love her energy and passion for photography. She goes goo goo and gah gah for guys like DJ & Becker. She was so sweet to bring Becker a gift last week. Kind of bitter that she didn’t get me anything but that’s ok. :-) She won the $500 ShowIt Stuff contest this week and posted this really funny photo of my friend Regis on her blog

Unfortunately she does NOT have facebook yet so you can’t request to be her friend just yet. Go to her blog and leave her a nice comment to hurry up and create one! :-)

UPDATE: Megan just created a facebook account!

Okay, seriously let me know what you guys think about the “Getting To Know You” feature. I will continue you to do it or not based on your comments. Thanks!
