EDIT: WRAP-UP

It is almost midnight here and the conference is getting ready to wrap up soon. It officially ends tomorrow but I need to leave a bit early so I wanted to update everyone on the experience I’ve had so far. I’m in an auditorium filled with over 1200 people comprised of youth kids, youth workers and volunteers. All the older generation, though tiring and difficult, are here investing their time and energy in the future of our generation in hopes that we are helping them to go in the right direction in their lives. I’m thankful to be here – being able to use my gift of photography to serve in this capacity. God is doing some mighty things here and it has been my privilege to be able to capture some of it through my eyes.

Most of the photos can be viewed on facebook (as it tends to be where people have migrated to view photos):

END EDIT

For the next few days, I’ll be in Upland, IN at the Taylor University campus. I am helping out by photographing this event called “J-Gen” Conference. This conference started 10 years ago when a handful of church youth group workers in the Chicagoland got together and decided that they needed something that can connect all the youth ministry together to encourage, support and build each other. From that meeting came the Joshua Generation. Since then numbers kept increasing and this year we have a record breaking of over 1,000 youths (ranging from gradeschool to high-school) attending this event.

I love volunteering my services at an event like this. It’s a great way for me to get blessed, use my gifts to serve, as well as a great time of seeing old friends and spending some time in fellowship. They let me roam around pretty much any where and capture moments from the event. I’ll post more photos from it later. Here’s a photo I took during one of our worship time. These kids have so much energy and rather than spending it torwards doing something negative, they rechannel that and pour their hearts to worship God. For some reason, I see beauty and hope in that.
