I had a week off in between my tour with Bob Davis & Mike Colón so I decided to take it easy instead of delving right back into work. Chicago weather was not so friendly (-2) when I got back from Baltimore so my good friend Al and I hopped on a plane down to Florida to visit one of our good friend Peter Min & his wife Bethany (who by the way can cook up a storm like no one else). So this entry is just random stuff that I’ve been doing this week (not work related).

Here’s couple of random shots I took walking around Washington DC last week with my friend Susan (who I met at OIL last year).

My good friend Peter in Maryland hosted me that weekend. Thanks Peter! Here’s one of his two cute kids – Tobias a.k.a. Toby! What a cutie :) I think his whole body can fit inside my gigantic head.

My KK shirt getting some love from Maryland! Thanks Peter & Susanna!

Al (I refuse to use facebook & update xanga) and I hopped on a tiny plane down to Jacksonville, FL where it greeted us with 70′s weather. He looks grumpy here but it’s because he just woke up from a nap and I made him pose for this shot.

This shot is very… gay? I can’t think of anything else to say…

What’s wrong w/ this picture?

Peter & Bethany sporting the KK Shirt!

Al’s idea of vacationing – just vegging out in front of the tv even when we’re in Florida. I love it.

Al and I stood at Peter’s wedding (5 years ago). I had no idea I was going into photography then. And man did I look skinny back then. This photo and another one that you will see below makes me want to get back into shape again.

Eating out at Dragonfly – our favorite sushi joint in Gainesville!

Takin’ a road trip to Orlando!

I woke up from a nap to see this. I thought we were getting into an accident.

Random toll dude working at his booth. He had a cool shirt on.

We felt like little kids singing songs and watching movies in the car. Remember to buckle up when u ride! In Al’s case, wear a neck brace too.

Did some shopping in Orlando. Gotta love the outlet malls there. Here’s someone famous sporting my shirt.

Peter & Bethany in love. Aww… :D

Al’s getting angry from all the shopping…

That night we decided to go watch the Orlando Magic game at the AmWay Arena.

The seats weren’t too shabby…

Rashard Lewis throwing one down. Dwight Howard marked 24 points and 22 rebounds that night. He is a stallion.

Here’s the other photo that made me want to get back in shape. Some random dude sitting next to me.

Here’s Orlando Magic’s mascot. I have no idea what it’s suppose to be. I think it’s a dragon?

We got to go out onto the floor after the game.

Flyin’ high again. :) We’re proud to say that all three of us made our lay-ups. We’re old but we still have some gas left in our tank.

All in all it was a good break. We had a good time and will be heading back up to the arctic zone soon.

On another note, Apple just released Aperture 2.0! Apparently it made ton of new features and if you are photographer, then I’m sure this is an exciting news. I’ve been debating to switch my current workflow with either Adobe Lightroom or Aperture. I’m glad to see that Apple is making effort to improve this application. If you go Apple’s aperture site (click on the link below), you will see Bob Davis’s interview on there about Aperture. Bob & Mike are both sponsored by Apple and knew about this release – but they did a good job not telling me all last week b/c of the NDA. :)

He inquired my assistance to shoot this event together. Blake was in shock as he was welcomed by snow and ice storm. It was fun watching his eyes glow as he got to witness snow for the first time. :)

Despite the nasty weather, this wedding was a huge hit! I love being surrounded by such loving people. Their wedding was beautifully planned by Christine Stone and her staff. The couple chose to use Burberry as their theme and it was fun seeing signs of their pattern every where.

That was my last official wedding of 2007. I am looking forward to shooting weddings again really soon and look forward to all the awesome opportunities that lie ahead! Here are some photos that I caputured from that day.

Let me know what you guys think about my new frame format! :)

Hey everyone! We had a great time out in Baltimore, MD! This was the first time Bob & Mike had done a seminar in Baltimore so we weren’t sure of what kind of crowd to expect. But they were both surprised by the enthusiasm and support that people showed. They were all eager to learn and network with each other. We got to reconnect with some old friends and definitely made some new friends!

If you have not signed up for this seminar yet, it is still not too late! We still have the following cities left in our tour. Do yourself a favor and come out to this event. You won’t regret it. (New York, Hartford CT, Chicago, Dallas, LA & San Fran). For more info, go to: Master Your Craft Website

I am so pumped about my very own city of Chicago! We have the biggest sign up so far. There are only few spots left and I want to personally see every seat get filled up. To help, I will give away my Kenny Kim t-shirt ($20 value) to the next 5 people that sign up for this event in Chicago. Once you register, please forward me a copy of your email confirmation and indicate the size that you want. This promotion starts NOW so it will only be valid for those that register starting TODAY! (If you bought my shirt already, wear it to this event!)

No worries if you are not the next 5 that sign up. You will still have a chance to win other great prizes there (iPod, Aperture, plus more).

Here are some photos from last night. Thanks again to all of the sponsors including Maureen and Michelle from GraphiStudio that made all this possible!

We have next week off to spend some time with friends and family back home. We will then resume this tour in NYC! Have a great week everyone!

UPDATE: 2/8 – CHARLOTTE, NC SLIDESHOW

UPDATE: 2/7 – BEING ON THE ROAD
Just wanted to give you a quick update to give you a glimpse of behind the scenes of working on a tour with these guys. We have two awesome reps from GraphiStudio helping us out in Michelle & Julie. We stayed up getting work done in prepping for the next seminar. So here we are, all traveling together:

On our way to the airport…

We were a bit crammed…

Looks like Hannah Montana is coming to concert…

That plane was way to small for Mike…

Boys will be boys…

Flyin’ high….

Michelle made us carry all her luggage…

What a big luggage…

Bob was about to get arrested by this security guard…

Mike emailed me these photos and I had to post them. Few of his fans that were at the workshop yesterday took a photo with him and fell in love with his sweater – so they sent this to Mike. Pretty creative & funny! :)

END UPDATE

Hello everyone. Mike & Bob just finished their second seminar in their 9 city tour. Uncle Ray did a nice job covering the event in Miami. I was able to join them in Charlotte, NC and will be touring with them covering the next 5 cities.

Neither one of us have visited Charlotte before but we were surprised by so many friendly folks! Bob & Mike had a great workshop as they tag-teamed together to go over so many things. Mike shared various “Colón” marketing strategies and Bob imparted us with his information about finding light. I was able to observe the crowd and they were soaking in every morsel of information that they had to offer. Apple rep gave a quick presentation about Aperture and GraphiStudio was there to show some cool sample albums.

Afterwards we raffled away some cool prizes that were provided by our sponsors (ipod, software, DVD’s, books, shirts, etc.) Then Bob gave a quick lighting demonstration for night shooting. Then a group of us went out to eat at UNO’s pizzeria afterwards and had a great time. Thanks to everyone that came out. We had such a blast and look forward to connecting with everyone in the future.

Feel free to let us know how the workshop was for you. Here are some images that highlight the day.

Next Stop: Baltimore, MD!

Chicago was covered in blanket of fog yesterday. Probably one of the worst I’ve seen in years. Because of that reason, most of the flights were cancelled. Hopefully that won’t be the case as I fly out to North Carolina to join Mike Colón & Bob Davis on their Master Your Craft Tour. Visit the link below and check out the locations they’ll be visiting. For $200, you can’t get a better deal. Bob & Mike are two of the industry’s leading/popular celebrity photographers. I just spoke to one of the attendees from Miami’s workshop last night and they were excited about what he had learned!

Here’s a quick guideline of what to expect (subject to change):
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.
Seminar starts 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Morning session will consist of camera settings, lighting techniques and shooting with available light
Apple Aperture presentation will take place from 12:00p.m.-12:30 p.m.
12:30-1:15 p.m. (lunch included)
Afternoon session will consist of marketing tips, proven techniques and reaching the high end client
Networking happy hour and evening shoot will be from 6:00-8:00p.m. (for seminar attendees only)

Don’t let this opportunity pass you by! Drop me a line if you guys are going. Hope to see you there!

I got to second shoot for a good friend of mine who happens to be a photographer extraordinaire in David Burke back in October. We flew to Charleston, South Carolina and captured some memorable moments for the Cullers & Meador family. They were such an awesome couple to work with and the location was unbelievable. Friday night rehearsal was followed by a dinner on the boat that took us on a tour of the Charleston Harbor. We got a glimpse of history as we sailed near Fort Sumter where the first shot that started the Civil War took place. The wedding & reception took place at the beautiful Francis Marion Hotel in the heart of Charleston downtown.

Thank you to Nicole & Blaine for an unforgettable weekend. Here are just a few shots I captured that I wanted to share with you. Thanks to Mr. Burke for letting me tag along! Looking forward to shooting more weddings in the future. :-)

My shirts are still available. See the post below. I will also have them on hand at the Master Your Craft Workshop!
