Eric & Sara met at a place where you normally don’t expect to find your life-long partner. :-) But from the start, they were attracted to each other and immediately fell in love. Years later they decided to tie the knot. It was an awesome experience to witness these two families that are so open and full of care embracing each other. They introduced us to a bit of Western and Eastern culture in their weekend which was a learning experience for all of us.

I really enjoyed doing weddings like this where I can spend the entire weekend with the couple so that I can be part of their lives. It allows me to come and freely capture all the emotions that are shared by their close family members and friends. Thank you Eric & Sara for letting me be part of your lives that weekend. I look forward to reliving this experience at Monica’s wedding next year.

Thanks again to Kenny Nakai for assisting me at this wedding. Here are some moments that we captured during this festive weekend:

Sunny Choi! I also want to congratulate Norman and Noel for sending their screen capture as well. I don’t know how it happened but all three of you had 300,000K screencaptures. I’m assuming you guys must’ve visited at the same time? To determine the tie breaker, I went with the person that sent me the first email. And that person was Sunny!

For winning, she will get a free baby photoshoot when her child arrives next year! For Noel & Norman, you will get a free shirt when I order the next batch!

Thanks everyone for all the emails! END UPDATE

Landmark – 300,000 visitors
EDIT::: It’s getting close…. just 145 more hits! :-) :::END EDIT

My blog has been up for almost 3 years now and I’m about 550 hits away from reaching 300,000 visitors. If you are the 300,000 visiter (or the closest), take a screencapture and email it to me. If you are that person, you will win a prize! :-) Thanks to everyone that’s been supporting and following up on me through this. You guys are what motivates me to keep this blog going in the midst of everyone leaving xanga.

What The Duck
Growing up my favorite comic strip was Foxtrot. Recently I came across one made for photographers and I love it. It’s called What The Duck. (http://www.whattheduck.net) Go check it out when you get a chance or click on the strip for more:

UPDATE: Praise night was oh so good. :-) I’m so proud of my brothers & sisters at our church! Great job everyone. Thanks for such a blessing night! END UPDATE

Since this summer I feel like I’ve been playing catch up. I still have few more weddings to edit and some other photoshoots to process. Because of this I’ve been behind on my blogging. I am in the middle of editing another wedding but thought I’d take a break. If I don’t do this now, I will never catch up on it. I will start today by blogging about the RCA tennis tournament I covered back in July. But before I do so, I wanted to quickly share a tip about photography.

One of the toughest things about shooting sports photography is the speed of the game. Everything happens in a split second so if you are not paying attention, you end up missing everything or worse – with bunch of blurry shots. One of the helpful tips in any style photography is to understand your subject. For this reason, in weddings that I shoot, I try to meet with all my bride and groom before the wedding to get to know them, their friends and family members. This helps me to understand their personality and familiarize myself with them.

Same principle can be applied to sports photography. Two sports that I like to shoot are basketball and tennis. Why? First of all, you get the best seats in the house! (free courtside/floor seats – what can beat that?) Just kidding. :-) Seriously, I enjoy shooting these two sports the most because I understand the game. And knowing the game helps me to anticipate the moments and compose my shots accordingly. This is applicable even more in fast-action sports because you don’t have time to react to something that happens – by the time you see it, you will have missed the moment. So next time you shoot, spends some time getting to know the subject if you already don’t know them/it.

I hope this tip helps. Here are some photos from the RCA tournament. I was there just for one day so I only got to cover Andy Roddick and my good friend Amer Delic. If you want to see Amer and some other pro tennis players in action, they will be playing at the USTA Illinois Challenger in Champaign from Nov. 10-16.
