EDIT: I just got back from Wisconsin. Had a great time hanging out with the Lin/Kee family. I’ll update more later. But here’s a pic from that day. Even though it was freezing outside, we managed to get a quick 8 minute outdoor photoshoot. Carol and Eric were troopers bearing the frigid wisconsin weather. Congratulations! END EDIT

After weaving through hours of traffic and dangerous road condition, I finally made it up to Wisconsin – home of the Green Bay Packers. I’m here this weekend to shoot Eric & Carol’s wedding. They are such a happy couple and the hazardous weather didn’t stop their family and friends from coming out to support them during their rehearsal. I spent the night getting to know all the family members and the bridal party so that come tomorrow, they will see me as their “old friend with a fancy camera”. Getting to know them ahead of time helps me to shoot comfortably and it helps them to get “warmed up” for tomorrow’s photoshoot so that they will not feel awkward being constantly photographed.
Everything went well tonight and I’m just getting ready to wind down to get ready for the big day tomorrow. But I thought I’d mention about this guy that I met tonight. I actually don’t know what his name, but for the purpose of this blog, I shall call him Cousin Bob. Cousin Bob must have been really happy for Eric and Carol. He was very trigger happy tonight. I think he actually took 3 times more photos than I. Every moment during the rehearsal and the dinner, he was there to capture the action. I usually don’t mind when there are other photographers there – the more the merrier – but Cousin Bob kept getting in my way. He always stood right in front of where I stood and followed me like a shadow popping up in front of my camera right as I am about to shoot. I was really close to saying something to him but I held myself back. I must’ve taken like 50 photos just like this:

But one of the challenges as a wedding photographer is to work around guys like Cousin Bob. After all, I try to blend in with the rest of the group so I have to see Cousin Bob as another obstacle I have to weave through. I’m sure he will have nice set of photos to give to the B&G. Any ways, I’m really looking forward to shooting this wedding tomorrow. I met some great people tonight and they are all excited about tomorrow’s wedding.
