CFC 2006 Mini-Olympics – 09/23/06 -FAR/PAR Fields (EDITED WITH CAPTIONS)

These photos represent what took place yesterday from my perspective. Because I’m in ISR and belong to ISR 6 small group, you will see more ISR photos than other areas. So I apologize in advance if there are not enough pictures of your small group/area. Thanks for your understanding and hope you enjoy them. If you want to link some of these photos to your xanga posts, here’s one helpful suggestion: Rather than downloading them and uploading them back up to your xanga server (which resizes and distorts the photo sometimes), go ahead and directly link the image path to my server. Here’s a sample code:

IMG SRC=”http://xanga.kennykim.com/MO_2006/01.jpg
(Make sure you are in ‘edit html’ mode when you do this)

You can find out what the file name for images are by right clicking on them and then just changing the names. Hope that helps.

Big thanks to M-O staff for putting on another great event. Being on the staff myself for 6 years, I know how much work and effort goes into making events like this happen. We appreciate you serving this way.

Super-bridging the gap

Dan Lo giving final instructions for Tug o War. Seong just can’t wait to go home and eat.

And the winner is…

CRH!!!! By the way, notice Josh Cho. Few photos above, he joins Youth Group in doing the Tug of War (guy at the end of the rope) and then as soon as Youth Group loses, guess who he comes to cheer (he even changed his shirt and everything – see the guy on the right) Now you are caught on film!

Andy almost had the two peat but was satisfied with the fact that he didn’t get hurt like last year. (See the photo on the right)

Can you tell we like taking photos?

There were more “me and ___” photos but most of them turned out blurry. Here’s one of me and Wayne that was salvageable.

Is it me or does Chris like being center of attention?

I dunno, you tell me.

Mike & Jean, I apologize. I thought it was just Dae Woung’s small group that won. Didn’t realize you guys were the leader of another group that combined! Otherwise I would’ve put you guys in here also. My bad!

P. Joe leading us in a time of praise – “I love to live in your house O’ Lord” (why do we sing that song every year at the end of Mini-O’s?)

If you made it this far, give yourself a pat on the back!

Being an Illinois Fan
A friend of mine can’t understand why I have so many orange and blue clothing. She was also nice enough to buy me a souvenir from Kansas – a Kansas Jayhawk t-shirt – but she also didn’t understand why I can’t wear that publicly around town. Here’s a good example of why I can’t do this:

This morning, I got up and quickly put on a shirt to drive Minsoo and Seong back to FAR (who slept over last night) b/c they were running late. Without thinking twice about it, I put on a MSU shirt that I picked up while I was in East Lansing to do a photoshoot this summer. I forgot about what I was wearing and went about my typical day.

Today after eating lunch at Oodles, I quickly met up with Dee, Luther and Deron at the mall (they are in town for tomorrow’s football game). First person I see is Luther who was about to give me a friendly handshake and a hug. Right before our hands are about to meet, Luther’s eyes turn really big (like he saw a ghost) and takes a step back. “Whoa, Michigan State? What the he@!? you doing with a Michigan State shirt on? Then Dee looked at me and gave me the look like I just dissed him majorly: “Oh, so you a SHANNON Brown fan now? Why you gotta diss DEE Brown like that huh?” By now I’m feeling really bad. Then I turn to Deron and he just stares at me with this pity look (like the one that Jesus gave to the people that were crucifying him) and just shook his head. All he has was: “M. S. U. Hmm…something ain’t right.”

So I’m feeling really, really bad now. After saying good bye, I stop by Wal-Mart on the way home. As I’m walking in, I see the greeter at the front door (who usually greets you with a big smile and “hi, welcome to wal-mart”). Except today, he gives me this disgusting look and the first thing he says is: “Michigan State?!@#@!” Then just shook his head like Mr. T who pitied his fools.

Of course these guys were just giving me hard time and just joking but don’t forget, there’s half truth to every joke. But I was reminded once again why I can never any thing but Orange and Blue.

Go Illini! (yes, even the football team)

Heaven Book
Awhile back Pastor Min mention a book that he recommended on the topic of heaven. The book is called Heaven by Randy Alcorn. It’s probably the most comprehensive book on a subject that we know very little of but should be concerned about since we will be spending the rest of our lives there. Many biblical scholars have deemed Randy as the best current living theologian on the subject of Heaven. If you are interested in getting hold of a copy, I can get it for you for about 45% off the retail price ($14 a copy). Send me an email or drop me a note and I’ll reserve a copy for you.
